COMPETITION

  • The Duathlon events will take place in the traditional venue of Hawrelak Park.  Having hosted the World Triathlon Championships on three separate occasions in this venue, athletes will get the world-class treatment. Using a new and exciting course that is a hybrid of the 2001, 2014 and 2021 courses, winding in and out of the River valley, through the boreal forest and pathways of Alberta.

    Distances: Standard, Sprint, Mixed Relay

  • The Aquathon will take place in and around Hawrelak Park using a mixture of wide and stable pathway and closed roadways.

  • The Long Distance Triathlon and Aquabike will be held in Hawrelak Park and wind its way through  Edmonton’s scenic river valley in a cloverleaf pattern, touching the downtown, arts district and university areas , coming back close to Hawrelak park before embarking out into Edmonton again.  With the cloverleaf design and being a multilap course, family and friends will have the unique chance to cheer on their athletes 30 times during the race without venturing more than 10 minutes from the finish line and start area.

  • The Cross Triathlon courses utilize existing trails for the bike and run portions of the Championships.  Athletes will race on the same trails used for international level mountain bike events and historical trail running series.

  • The Cross Duathlon will take place in the same venue as the Cross Triathlon events on much of the same world-class courses.  However, there will be slight tweaks to the courses to ensure these run-bike-runners have an experience to call their own.
